Trick or treat

Got a bit sidetracked by Hallowe'en achievements. Iolanthe and MadMargaret both now have all the ones they can reasonably get, but this took much longer than it should have, because when Iolanthe was going round Northrend visiting candy buckets, I got sucked into my usual insanity of only using flight paths she hadn't used before, so I could complete my set of timings. I was strict with myself when MadMargaret did it, at least, and went more or less directly from place to place, but it still took ages.

I'm quite annoyed that I only realised yesterday that if I'd collected 150 treats I could get a new pet cat - I'm not that far off, but probably too far to get that many by Monday. If I'd realised earlier, I could quite easily have done a quest or two each day. Oh well.

Apart from that, it's mainly been archaeology. Iolanthe now has all the archaeology achievements except the one where she has to get 20 rare artefacts (I think she has 13). That one may take a while, because the same (common) ones keep popping up. Spent ages in Northrend the other day because I wanted to complete my Nerubian thingy and Vrykul sites kept spawning. And don't get me started on wanting Tol'vir but being stuck with Night Elf!

The other thing I've been doing is working towards Iolanthe's Winterspring mount. MadMargaret got the Horde equivalent (the raptor from Un'Goro) ages ago, but I'd forgotten about the Winterspring one until Iolanthe was questing there. She's nearly finished - she needs 20 hairs and I think she has 19.

My current focus has just shifted from Iolanthe's archaeology to MadMargaret's low-level questing - she's just started Thousand Needles and is doing stuff on the Speedbarge.

Awkward Gangly Orc

I encountered this npc yesterday and was very amused by his title :-)

I meant to update this blog every week or two after I finally got caught up in July, but it seems to have been three months! Oh well. I won't try to list all the things I've done since - I'll just tell you whatever I can remember without looking stuff up...

I haven't played any of my alts since I last posted, and I haven't started any new characters, so goblins and worgen are still on my to-do list. I've played both Iolanthe and MadMargaret (my two L85 mains) a lot, though. They've both finished the Firelands - at least, as much as they can do solo, which is quite a lot. They both have just about all the possible achievements there too, although one of them (I forget which) hasn't quite finished the bombing run achievement.

Since I finished the Firelands (twice!) I've been mainly questing. This may seem a bit silly, given that both my mains already have Loremaster, but before Cataclysm came out they'd both started redoing all the low-level quests to see what's changed, and it's one of those "I've started so I'll finish" things. Iolanthe now effectively has Loremaster twice over, because she got the title and then got the individual titles for each of the re-done zones. She finished a few days ago (Blasted Lands was the last one). MadMargaret isn't far behind - she's completed about two thirds of the re-done zones, and has just started Feralas.

Memorable bits while I've been doing this: let's see... I think Westfall made the biggest impression. The story involving Van Cleef's daughter took me by surprise, and the effect it had on the zone overall was significant. I'd like to do New Deadmines sometime, but I think it won't be one I can solo. Pity.

I've done lots of archaeology, too. Iolanthe is at level 525 and has completed the whole of some of the achievements, while being well on the way towards others. Soon the only thing she'll have left to do will be grinding for epic artefacts. Madmargaret is only at level 60, but that's because I concentrated on Iolanthe almost exclusively, until she hit max level.

More soon!
